🏰 4 Pillars Of Your Media Empire

Multiple Income Streams To Expand Your Reach And Wealth

In partnership with

đź‘‹ Welcome

Today’s issue is all about core building blocks that you should consider to develop a more robust media business around your newsletter-driven venture.

It was inspired by my attendance at Jacob Donnelly’s AMO Summit earlier this month. Newsletters were at the core of many of the businesses that presented at AMO Summit, but those maturing media businesses have also blossomed to encompass other offerings that all newsletter operators should consider. These topics are so important that I will be dedicating two issues to this topic, and in this first issue we are going to highlight four specific approaches being used to develop multiple income stream media companies by:

  1. Hosting events;

  2. Running communities;

  3. Selling products and subscriptions;

  4. Acquiring other media properties.

Spark your imagination with this issue because we are going to take a deep dive into how world-class media operators are employing these same strategies in our next issue, which will be a special Newsletter Business Spotlight issue. I took last week off for my birthday, but have been working on a special gift for all of you in this next issue.

There are some great upcoming newsletter learning events this month:

If you think that Hubspot is the only SaaS platform exercising this strategy, then you might not have heard that SEMRush also bought Search Engine Land’s parent company this month, which adds to their recent string of content property acquisitions. Check out the details of the Mindstream deal, and also explore why it makes sense for SaaS companies to acquire media properties… Read \ Why SaaS Platforms Buy Media Companies

This is a move that can favor newsletters with large subscriber bases that have high unique open rates. In addition, beehiiv has made it easier to link to back issues in a publisher’s newsletter archive to increase internal content linking and boost SEO signals that can lead to higher search engine rankings for the publisher’s beehiiv site… Read

Paterson has launched a paid Substack subscription called “Hungry Dogs” which will offer filmed interviews with authors and celebrities in addition to written content three times per week. Paterson indicates that he has been seeking an unfiltered outlet such as Substack to share opinionated views he can’t express in his other endeavors… Read
